 AVO MEGGER ET3/2

Manufactured by Avo Megger as their model ET3/2, this is a completely self contained instrument designed to give accurate measurement of earth electrode resistance, soil resistivity and earth continuity.

Supplied with original robust instrument case as shown.

The famous a.c. brushless hand crank generator pioneered by Evershed & Vignoles is used to provide the alternating current which must be passed through the soil to overcome interference from stray currents. An electrronic rectifier converts the ac to dc for measuting purposes.

The basic system employed in this instrument utilises the hand driven ac generator to pass a test current between the earth electrode under test and a current electrode. The potential drop across the test electrode is balanced by a voltage which is generated from the ac output via a current transformer across a digital resistor system. The out-of-balance current caused by the difference of potentials is rectified and passed to a centre zero moving coil micro-ammeter.

Industry standard piece of test gear, It came to us as surplus from the UK Ministry of Defense, and is sold in good working and cosmetic used condition.

No other accessories or cables are included, only as shown in the photo. We may have the associated cable accessory kit for this tester listed elsewhere on ebay.

Supplied either with the blue outer case as shown or the slightly newer yellow case, operationally they are identical types.
