Manufactured by Electroswitch to military specifications as their part number 40C24DC(AX), these are a very heavy duty 24Vdc solenoid coil, continuous duty.

The frame dimensions are 68mm long x 40mm wide x 47mm high. 

The plunger is 12mm diameter which goes down to a 3mm diameter shaft which protrudes from the rear of the coil housing by a maximum of 4mm - enough to operate a microswitch which the original application required.

Plunger stroke length is 1", and the linear force is 0.375 pounds which is 1.67 Newtons.
