Manufactured in 1986 in the UK by Plessey Semiconductors, the CLA2505 was a special to order part used in early multi-tone frequency modems and other telecommunications equipment.
  
Plessey Semiconductors were a rare UK based chip manufacturer, their chips are now on the whole quite rare, and 40 pin ceramic package examples were not usually made and are extremely rare.

This chip would definitely be of interest to collectors of UK manufactured product.
