Possibly one for the collectors, manufactured by Alma in the 1970's as their part L2S range, this is a 10M Ohm 2% vintage precision power resistor, it has threaded mounting bars and looks to be quite high power.

 Overall length is 130mm, with the main body of the resistor being 60mm in length x 27mm diameter.
