Manufactured by NSF to military specifications these are a premium quality old style stacked wafer rotary switch, with silver plated contacts.

They were spare parts for Marconi military attenuator sets.

2 pole 17 ways (make before brake) 

Behind panel dimensions are roughly 30mm long x 45mm across, and the control shaft is standard 6.3mm diameter, and approximately 9mm long, plus the mounting bush (10mm deep) which requires a 10mm hole for mounting.
