These are known as Plessey Painton connectors, being manufactured by the company of the same name. Plessey actually called them the 'Multicon' range, they are also sometimes referred to as Jones or in the USA, Cinch plugs.

This type is a galvonised pressed steel housing or hood for the 12 way cable mountable connectors
